Engage everyone in your organization and help them learn about their impact
Getting wise to the two-sided brain phenomenon
So what’s the secret sauce to getting people involved in your United Way campaign and driving more donation dollars? Well, some of that will be dependent on your unique organization, but according to recent research from Charity Village, a key ingredient is appealing to both the rational and emotional sides of people’s brains. Specifically, donors need to feel like the non-profit they’re supporting is impactful (left side) and be able to connect with it emotionally (right side). The resources on this page should help you strike that winning balance and meet your fundraising goals–and in doing so, make a huge positive impact in your community that you can be proud of.

Priscilla’s Story
Mental illness can impact every aspect of your life. When mental health issues like depression and anxiety aren’t addressed, they can lead to serious repercussions, such as bullying, health issues, and suicidal thoughts and attempts.
For Priscilla, she’s turned that adversity into strength, and uses it as a way to help others.
Ann’s impact story
Ann has spent much of her adult life making her city a better place to live. She volunteers with a local community association that puts together a free monthly breakfast for seniors. Over a hundred seniors show up every month.
For Ann, reaching the isolated seniors and ensuring they feel a sense of belonging is what keeps her coming back.
Travis’s impact story
Mental illness and addiction are #UNIGNORABLE issues. A lack of positive social connections can make a person feel alone, and can have a negative impact on their physical and mental well-being. When that person has also experienced trauma, their ability to cope with mental illness is also impacted.
For Travis, he turned to substances to cope with his experience as a child. When this got out of control, he became homeless, living on the street.
